Upper Mustang Trek is one of the restricted trekking destinations in the Annapurna region of Nepal. The trek begins from Pokhara city after 6 hours drive from Kathmandu valley. The region presents you with a lost culture of the forbidden lands of the past and this region is untouched and unchanged from outside cultures for centuries. We can see the uniqueness of tree-less landscapes, rocky trails, and the wonderful views of the mountain. Trekkers need to obtain special trekking permit to trek to have trekked in this area. And without trekking permit, any trekkers can’t enter this area because this area is restricted by the Nepal government. Especially trekking in this wonderful region is considered as total wilderness adventure tour covering scenic landscapes, impressive hilly terrains, lush green forests, and flora, and fauna of this wonderful land. As you walk along the well-marked trekking paths, travellers will often discover quite the opposite. It offers one of the majestic views of Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, Machhapuchhre, and many other mountains of this route. This trekking offers unique Gurung culture to expose and experiences with it. Mostly Gurung people are found in this area and the people are influenced by Tibetan Buddhism. For the trekking, the perfect time also needed and the perfect season for trekking February to June and September to December.

Detail Itinerary

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu

When you will land in the international airport in Kathmandu then there will one person from our company to take-off you. You will directly drive towards the hotel to check out. At night you will meet your guide and counsel about the trip. And have our dinner.      

Day 02: Drive to Pokhara (827m) 5-6 hours

The very next morning, if the hotel is able to prepare breakfast then will have our breakfast in the hotel and if not we will have our breakfast on the way. We will have a scenic Prithvi highway where we will enjoy shortstops for lunch and scenic beauty all the way around. 6 hours drive from Kathmandu valley, we will reach Pokhara and we will check out the hotel and explore all around the valley and back to the hotel and spend overnight.

Day 03: Fly to Jomsom and trek to Kagbeni (2,810m) 3-4 hours

Early in the morning after having breakfast, we will slowly drive towards the local airport to fly towards Jomsom which is very famous for its apples, strong winds, and the landscapes. After reach in Jomsom, we will start our trekking towards Kagbeni. And on the route, we will have an opportunity wonderful view of the mountain which can see from this route.

Day 04: Trekking to Chele (3,050m) 5-6 hours

The valley narrows further north and a steep trail leads up to Chele. The trail guarantees excellent views of the beautiful landscapes and the mighty mountain. We will have our lunch on the way then after slowly move towards Chele where we will spend one night.

Day 05: Trekking to Syanbochen (3,475m) 6-7 hours

We will have a wonderful view of the mountain and beautiful landscapes. We will cross many suspension bridges before reaching Syanbochen. On the route, we will have our lunch on the way and slowly drive towards Syanbochen where we will spend one night.

Day 06: Trekking to Ghami (3,520m) 5-6 hours

The path descends gradually towards the Ghami La pass. The trail rises to a knoll and continues up the side of a spectacularly steeply canyon and on to the Chele La. We will have our lunch on the way then after slowly move towards Ghami where we will spend one night.

Day 07: Trekking to Tsarang (3,620m) 5-6 hours

The trail heads up the centre of the valley through the fields and past Chortens to the Nyi La. There is also a group of Chortens standing in fronts of the red wall which forms the end of the valley. We will have a wonderful view of the mountain and suspend bridges before reaching Tsarang where we will spend one night.

Day 08: Trekking to Lo-Manthang (3,730m) 3-4 hours

Today we will climb to a ridge Chorten overlooking the Tholung Valley and turn northwards towards the winds Lo. We will have our lunch on the way then after we will slowly move towards Lo Manthang where we will spend one night in this wonderful land.

Day 09: Rest day in Lo Manthang

This day is for the rest day that’s why we don’t start our trekking. Early in the morning after wake up, we will have our breakfast then after we will explore all around the Lo Manthang.

Day 10: Trek to Drakmar (3810 m) 6-7 hours

Our trail passes through Gyakar village which houses a century old Gompa with beautiful rock paintings. We will have our lunch on the way then after taking some rest and slowly move towards Drakmar where we will spend one night.

Day 11: Trekking to Ghiling (3,806m) 5-6 hours

The vegetation is sparser, allowing magical views of the mountain and beautiful landscapes. We will have our lunch on the way then after taking some rest and slowly move towards Ghiling where we will spend one night in this beautiful land.

Day 12: Trekking to Chhuksang (3050m) 5-6 hours

While doing this day trek, we will have an opportunity to see the wonderful views of the mountain, beautiful villages. We will cross many suspension bridges before reaching Chhuksang where we will spend one night in this wonderful land.

Day 13: Trekking to Jomsom (2,700m) 6-7 hours

From here, we will trek on the windy trail of Kali Gandaki valley. After walking 6 to 7 hours from Chhoksang we will finally reach Jomsom. Before reaching Jomsom, we will have an opportunity to see caves, meadows, and also reach Kagbeni which is one of the best places in this trekking.

Day 14: Fly back to Pokhara

After having breakfast, we will drive towards the local airport of Jomsom to take a flight towards Pokhara valley which is also known as the home or the city of the lakes. After reach in Pokhara, we will explore all around the valley and spend one night in this beautiful valley.

Day 15: Drive to Kathmandu

We will back to Kathmandu valley from the same route where we move towards Pokhara valley. At the time of this drive, we will have our lunch on the way and slowly drive to Kathmandu valley. After reach in Kathmandu valley, first of all, we will check out the hotel and spend some time around the Thamel Bazaar and spend one night in this wonderful valley.

Day 16: Final departure
