Phaplu to Everest Base Camp Trek

Phaplu to Everest Base Camp Trek is a pleasantly adventurous trek in the Everest region including a classical village of Sherpa and a monastery with breathtaking views of other villages. Trekking to this base camp includes seeing the daily lifestyle of the locals and how they thrive in the mountain region of Nepal. We will be warmly welcomed by the Sherpa people and will have an opportunity to know about their culture, traditions, and lifestyle for decades. Trekking this route is one of the most popular activities among the people who visit Nepal for a holiday. The trekker must be physical and mentally fit to consider making this trek to Base Camp.

Phaplu to Everest Base Camp Trek begins after a 30-minute flight to Phaplu from the Kathmandu Valley. We will have an opportunity to pass through the lush forest of rhododendron, pine, and oak, and also leads through the old Buddhist monastery on the way. It is a great place to purchase souvenirs and any additional clothing you may have neglected to bring along. We will have wonderful views of the mountains which include Mt Everest, Mt Ama Dablam, and Lhotse. We will also have a chance to enter Sagarmatha National Park which is the home of many rare birds, animals. The best season for trekking is from March to May and from September to November.

Day 01: Arrive at Kathmandu

Day 02: Fly to Phaplu (2600m) 30 minutes

Day 03: Trek to Nunthala (2330m) 5-6 hrs

Day 04: Trek to Bupsa (2070m) 5-6 hrs

Day 05: Trek to Phakding (2750m) 5-6 hrs

Day 06: Trek to Namche Bazaar (3440m) 5-6 hrs

Day 07: Rest day Namche bazaar

Day 08: Trek to Tengboche (3860m) 5-6 hrs

Day 09: Trek to Dingboche (4300m) 5-6 hrs

Day 10: Trek to Lobuche (4960m) 5-6 hrs

Detailed Itinerary

Day 01: Arrive at Kathmandu

When you land at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu there will be a representative from our company to meet you. You will directly drive to the hotel to check in. At night you will meet your guide, hear additional information about the trip, and have dinner.

Day 02: Fly to Phaplu (2600m) 30 minutes

If the hotel is able to make breakfast then we will have our breakfast and drive to the local airport of Kathmandu Valley to fly to Phaplu. After a 30-minute flight, we will reach Phaplu, check into the hotel, explore all around the valley and establish the necessary frame of mind for tomorrow trekking.

Day 03: Trek to Nunthala (2330m) 5-6 hrs

We will start the trek with a gentle descent towards the Dudh Koshi River. It descends steeply through forests to a Chautara overlooking the river, where the trail passes through agriculture farming land and a small Sherpa and Rai settlement.

Day 04: Trek to Bupsa (2070m) 5-6 hrs

We will pass through rhododendron and oak forest, including a small Sherpa settlement and tea shop. We will pass through a lush forest and beautiful valley, and have an opportunity to see stunning views of the mountains.

Day 05: Trek to Phakding (2750m) 5-6 hrs 

Today our trail is mostly flat witha  gentle descent and ascent to the village Phakding, where you can explore. The main trail crosses a spectacular deep gorge with a high waterfall.

Day 06: Trek to Namche Bazaar (3440m) 5-6 hrs 

The trail follows an ascent through Himalayan pine and cedar forests. We will have an opportunity to see wonderful views of the the highest mountains in the world, Mt Everest. On the route, we will have our lunch and then trek to Namche Bazaar where we will spend one night.

Day 07: Rest Day Namche Bazaar

This day is for the rest day. Early in the morning after wake up, we will have our breakfast and then after we will explore all around the Namche Bazaar. We will explore villages and have an opportunity to spend some time in the monastery which may help provide the mental stamina for further trekking.

Day 08: Trek to Tengboche (3860m) 5-6 hrs 

We will follow a trail to an even higher elevation where the main attraction is a monastery situated at the highest altitude in the world. We will have a wonderful view of the mountains and beautiful landscape of this route and spend one night.     

Day 09: Trek to Dingboche (4300m) 5-6 hrs

Our trail descends and passes through a lush forest of birch. We will cross many suspension bridges before reaching Dingboche where we will spend one night.   

Day 10: Trek to Lobuche (4960m) 5-6 hrs  

The trail passes through spectacular views of the mountains and  lush forests of rhododendron. The land becomes drier and vegetation more sparse as we travel to Lobuche where we will spend one night.

Day 11: Trek to Gorekshep (5100m) 4-5 hrs 

There is a lot of meandering on rough terrains to the last settlement along the route. We can enjoy the wonderful views of the mountains and beautiful landscapes. We will cross many suspension bridges before reaching Gorak Shep where we will spend one night.

Day 12: Trek to Everest Base Camp (5500m) and Pheriche (4160m) 7-8 hrs

This will be one of the most difficult  yet rewarding days of the trek.  The ascent is demanding, but the climber will enjoy magnificent mountain views.

Day 13: Trek to Namche Bazaar 7-8 hrs  

This day trekking trail slightly goes uphill to Namche Bazaar. We will have an opportunity to explore the beautiful valley of the route. We will pass through the lush forest, beautiful valley, and get an opportunity to see the wonderful views of the mountains.

Day 14: Trek to Lukla 5-6 hrs

This is the last day of trekking in the Everest region where we will walk from Namche Bazaar to Lukla. The trail passes through pine, oak, and rhododendron forests. We will also pass through many suspension bridges before reaching Lukla where we will spend one night.

Day 15: Fly to Kathmandu

In the morning, if the hotel is able to make breakfast then we will have our breakfast and move towards the local airport of Lukla to fly to Kathmandu. Upon reaching Kathmandu, we will check in at the hotel, spend some time around the Thamel Bazaar, and spend one night in this wonderful valley.

Day 16: Final Departure

We will drop you off at Tribhuvan International Airport with the hope that you have had a wonderful time in our small country. We will also be hoping that this will not the last chance to serve you.
