Manaslu Rupina La Pass Trek

Manaslu Rupina La Pass is one of the peaceful and the hidden gems of a trekking adventure of Nepal which takes you deep into the Manaslu region. It is one of the most  challenging trekking trails in the Manaslu region. The geological variation impacts on cultural aspects as you step up every day. The trekking routes cover many villages mainly inhabited by Gurung which gives us a chance to be a part of an amazing culture and traditions. To enter the trekking trail requires certain permission and formalities must be provided by the Government of Nepal. You will experience the lifestyle that is similar to civilization back in time. Trekking in this route is a rare and privileged opportunity to experiences the true life of the mountain people. It is an incredibly satisfying one for those who want to experience the hospitality and warmth of the local living in this remote region. This trail also leads you through unfamiliar regions, where you are face-to-face with the people. The upper reaches of the trails resemble towering polished granite cliffs capped by hanging glacier and overflowing with waterfalls. The trek passes through pristine countryside and flora and fauna, as well as yak pastures.

Manaslu Rupina La Pass is on the journey to the wilderness Himalayan it one of the wildest trekking in Nepal. It is a less touristy trekking destinations in the Himalayan part of Nepal. The entire Manaslu region is geographically spectacular and culturally fascinating due to superb Himalayan scenery, the lush valleys, beautiful landscapes, and very few human settlements and diverse flora and fauna. We can get glorious views of the villages and the pristine Himalayas as well. The trek itself passes through gorgeous rhododendron and bamboo forest with magnificent vistas of snow-capped mountains. The trek begins from Gorkha after a 5 to 6 drive from the Kathmandu Valley. The trek also offers a wide range of several villages along the way with ethnicities and diverse cultural attractions including sacred mountains and the highest lake in the world. This is a spectacular retreat that matches the amazing beauty of nature with a taste of the unique local culture.

Trekkers need to obtain a special trekking permit to trek in this area, because this area is restricted by the Nepal government. It offers one of the most majestic views of Mt Manaslu, Ganesh Himal, Mt Himalchuli, and many other mountains. For the trekking, the perfect time also needed and the perfect season for trekking March to May and September to December.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu

When you land at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu there will be a representative from our company to meet you. You will directly drive to the hotel to check in. At night you will meet your guide, hear additional information about the trip, and have dinner.

Day 02: Drive to Gorkha

The very next morning, if the hotel is able to prepare breakfast then will have our breakfast in the hotel and if not we will have our breakfast on the way. We will enjoy short stops for lunch and the scenic beauty all the way around. After an 8- to 9-hour drive from Kathmandu Valley, we will reach Gorkha, check into the hotel, explore all around the valley, and spend overnight.

Day 03: Trek to Baluwa

The main attraction of this village is its lifestyle, culture, traditions, rituals, and the hospitality of the local people. We will pass through rice fields, many bananas trees, and several small villages to reach Baluwa. We can observe the beautiful landscapes, streams, and follow the river edge of Darundi Khola.

Day 04: Trek to Barpak

The trail follows the riverbank of Darundi Khola passing the beautiful paddy field on the right side of the river. We will walk on a steep trail and go further through a dense forest. We will have our lunch on the way, and then  move towards Barpak where we will spend one night.

Day 05: Trek to Rupina-La Base Camp

The trek will descend down to the river, cross it and then move towards Rupina-La Base Camp. The trails play hide and seek in the dense forests area which is also zigzagging. The trekking route becomes all the more interesting as we get closer to our destination.

Day 06: Trek to Kharka

After a peaceful night in Rupina-La Base Camp we will slowly walk towards Kharka. The trail guarantees excellent views of the beautiful landscapes and the mighty mountains. After 7 to 8 hours, we will reach Kharka where we will spend one night.

Day 07: Trek to Buddha Himal Glacier Camp

We will leave behind the terraces of the villages and forest, ferns and woodland. We will  pass through several small villages and a few temples on the way before reaching Buddha Himal Glacier Camp where we will spend one night.

Day 08: Trek to Nyak

The trail climbs pass through a fir forest and then follows the river for a time amongst the higher oak and maple trees. On the way, we have an opportunity to explore a monastery and have some lunch and move towards Nyak where we will spend one night.

Day 09: Trek to Lokpa

The trail will be tiring as it follows a stone and dirt path and takes you down to the mountainsides. On the route, we will have an opportunity to see the wonderful views of the mountain and beautiful landscapes. We will have our lunch on the way then we will move towards Lokpa and spend one night.

Day 10: Trek to Chumling

From Lokpa, we will climb over a rocky ridge to Salleri, and then descends to Setibas. The trail goes up and down through forests and high cliffs, and then we reach to Chumling where we will spend one night in this beautiful region.

Day 11: Trek to Chhokang Paro (5-6hrs)

The trail climbs along the Mule a fir forest and then follows the river for a time amongst the higher oak and maple tree. On the way, we have an opportunity to explore a monastery and have some lunch and move towards Chokhang Paro where we will spend one night.

Day 12: Trek to Nile (4-5hrs)

While doing this day trek, we will have an opportunity to see the wonderful views of the mountain and beautiful villages. We will cross many suspension bridges before reaching Nile where we will spend one night.

Day 13: Trek Back to Chhokang Paro (6-7hrs)

We will wake up early in the morning and trek along the west bank of the river. This morning’s walk follows a gradually winding trail through forest and farmlands.   Next you will ascend to the huge Mu Gompa with a beautiful view of Chortens and Tibetans mountains.

Day 14: Trekk to Gumba Lungdang (5-6hrs)

Today you will travel on a trail to an even higher elevation where the main attraction is monastery situated at the highest altitude in the world. We will have a wonderful view of the mountain beautiful landscape of this route and spend one night.

Day 15: Rest Day Gumba Lungdang (7-8hrs)

This day is for rest. Early in the morning after wake up, we will have our breakfast and then after we will explore around Gumba Lungdang. We will have an opportunity to  explore villages and have an opportunity to spend some time in the lands which will improve our physical and mental makeup for further trekking.

Day 16: Trek to Lokpa (7-8hrs)

Our trail descends and passes through the lush forest of birch. On the route, we will have an opportunity to see wonderful views of the mountain and beautiful landscapes. We will cross many suspension bridges before reaching Lokpa where we will spend one night.

Day 17: Trek to Jagat (7-8hrs)

We will leave behind the forests, ferns and woodland and pass through several small villages and a few temples before reaching Jagat where we will spend one night.

Day 18: Trek to Machha Khola

This is the first day trekking on the Manaslu Circuit where we will walk to Maccha Khola. We walk on rounded stones before climbing over a side ridge. On the route, we will have our lunch and move towards Maccha Khola where we will spend one night.

Day 19: Trekking to Sotikhola

Today is the last day walking on the Manaslu Rupina La Pass trek from Machha Khola to Sotikhola. The trail leads upwards through terraced lands with rice fields that seem impossibly green. It is an enjoyable day at the end of our journey.

Day 20: Drive to Kathmandu

We will back to Kathmandu valley on the same route to the Syange Valley. We will have our lunch on the way and then drive to the Kathmandu Valley. After reaching Kathmandu, we will check into the hotel, spend some time around the Thamel Bazaar, and spend one night in this wonderful valley.

Day 21: Final Departure

We will drop you off at Tribhuvan International Airport with the hope that you have had a wonderful time in our small country. We will also be hoping that this will not the last chance to serve you.
