Langtang Goshaikunda Lake Trek

Langtang Goshaikunda Lake Trek is one of the most accessible treks in Nepal which combines the remote and the spectacular valley of Langtang region with many azure coloured mountain lakes. This trek is one of the best trekking trails in the Langtang Himalayan region. Trekking to this region offers an opportunity to explore ethnic villages, oldest monasteries, a small peak, and glacier at comfortably low elevations. We will have a chance to enjoy the culture, traditions, and lifestyle of Sherpa and Tamang people who are the local inhabitants of this area. It is considered as total wilderness adventure tour covering scenic landscapes, impressive hilly terrains, lush green forests the and the local fauna. The trek passes through pristine countryside  as well as yak pastures.

Langtang Goshaikunda Lake Trek is a wonderful chance to see a beautiful village, mountain views, and the mixed culture of the people who are the local inhabitants. Most of the people in this route are influenced by Tibetan Buddhism. We will start our trekking from the land of the beautiful Sherpa people which is called Syabrubesi. Since this area borders Tibet you will become acquainted with Hyolmo heritages of the region. During the  trek, we will have a great chance to see wonderful views of the mountain including Langtang Lirung, Gang Chhenpo, Naya Kangri, and Yala Peak. We will enter the Langtang National Park which is known for having many rare birds and animals, as well as unusual flora. The route is not well developed, but the natural beauty of this land makes your journey more enjoyable and the warm welcome by the Tamang people makes it even more memorable.  the best season for trekking is from February to May and from October to November.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu

When you land at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu there will be a representative from our company to meet you. You will directly drive to the hotel to check in. At night you will meet your guide, hear additional information about the trip, and have dinner.   

Day 02: Drive to Syabrubesi (1,550m) 7-8 hours

Upon morning breakfast, we will slowly drive towards Syabrubesi. On the route, we have an opportunity to see the wonderful views of the mountain, and the lush forest of rhododendron. Before reaching Syabrubesi, we can get an opportunity to explore around the Chilime Hydropower winch is under the hills and spend one night in this wonderful Sherpa land.

Day 03: Trek to Lama Hotel (2,380m) 6 hours

Today is the first-day walking trekking in the Langtang region where we walk from Syabrubesi to Lama Hotel. The suspension bridges the trails gradually ascend up to bamboo passing by the landslide. We have our lunch on the way then after slowly move towards Lama Hotel where we will spend one night.

Day 04: Trek to Mundu (3543m) 6-7 hours

The day starts with a gentle climb. We will pass through the lush forest of rhododendron, oak, and we will have an opportunity to see the animals like Langur, red panda, and Himalayan black bears etch before reaching Mundu where we will spend one night.

Day 05: Trek to Kyangjin Gompa (3,870m) 4-5 hours

The trail winds through the village and climbs ridge topped by a large Chorten and then climbs gradually past an impressive Mani wall. After 4 to 5 hours walking we will reach our destination and first of all will check out the hotel and explore all around the valley and spend overnight.

Day 06: Rest Day in Kyangjin Gompa

This day is for the rest day. Early in the morning after wake up, we will have our breakfast and then after we will explore all around the Kyangjin Gompa. We will explore villages and have an opportunity to spend some time in the monastery which may help provide the mental stamina for further trekking.

Day 07: Trek to Lama Hotel 6-7 hours

The trail back following the Langtang Khola and Langtang village and on to Ghore Tabela and most of the trekkers, today will downhill. We pass through forest and beautiful Tamang village before reaching Lama Hotel where we will spend one night.

Day 08: Trek to Thulo Syabru (2,230m) 5-6 hours

The trail descending to the landside and the route separates from here to Thulo Syabru. We can enjoy the fantastic landscapes and the majestic nature with splendid views of its ranges. We will have our lunch on the way then after we will slowly move towards Thulo Syabru where we will spend one night.

Day 09: Trek to Shin Gompa 3-4 hours

The trail continues steeply through the forest oak, and hemlock and then less steeply. We will have our lunch on the way then after taking some rest and slowly move towards Shin Gompa where we will spend one night.

Day 10: Trek to Gosaikunda (4,460m) 5-6 hours

The trail follows steeply ascents path passing through Dursagang along with the views of Langtang Himal. The slope is the sanctuary for the red panda and providing magnificent views of the mountain and landscapes.

Day 11: Trek to Ghopte (3,440m) 6-8 hours

The trail is rough and crosses moraines but is well marked with cairns. The trail passes through pine, oak, and rhododendron forest. We will also pass through many suspension bridges before reaching Ghopte where we will spend one night.

Day 12: Trek to Melamchigaon (2,560m) 6-7 hours

The trail made of broken reaching Melamchigaon and we will climb a ridge above the village and continue our trek. We will have our lunch on the way then after taking some rest and slowly move towards Melamchigaon where we will spend one night in this beautiful land.

Day 13: Trek to Tarkeghyang (2,590m) 5-6 hours

This trail passes a stupa and crosses small steam below Tarkeghyang. After 5 to 6 hours of walking we will reach our destination, will check in at the hotel, explore all around the valley and spend overnight.

Day 14: Trek to Sermathang (2,610m) 3-5 hours

Today the trail passes by the beautiful village, Chorten, and Monastery. It takes almost 4 hours to reach Sermathang from Tarkeghyang. After reaching Sermathang, we will check into the hotel, explore all over the valley and spend a wonderful night.

Day 15: Trek to Melamchi Bazaar and drive to Kathmandu 3-4 hours

Early in the morning after having breakfast we will walk towards Melamchi Bazaar. After reach in Melamchi Bazaar, we will have our lunch then after slowly drive towards Kathmandu valley. Upon reaching Kathmandu valley, we will check into the hotel, spend some time around the Thamel Bazaar, and spend one night in this wonderful valley.

Day 16: Final Departure

We will drop you off at Tribhuvan International Airport with the hope that you have had a wonderful time in our small country. We will also be hoping that this will not the last chance to serve you.
