Island Peak Climbing

Island Peak Climbing takes place on a beautiful peak in the Everest region of Nepal. Also known as Imja Ts, it is one of the best dream-fulfilling peaks for mountain climbing enthusiasts. The peak  is situated between the breathtaking mountains of  Ama Dablam and Lhotse. It is not compulsory to have had formal climbing training or be well-experienced in climbing. The natural and cultural panorama of this trekking route ascends to the base camp. Continuing to Kala Patthar is a great option if you are an experienced trekker and looking for a tougher challenge.  The climbing leads to a remote valley and where you can witness Sherpa culture and walk through sub-tropical pine and red blooming rhododendron forest with abundant wildlife.

Island Peak Climbing is an exciting lifetime experience and trekking journey in the Khumbu Everest region. While previous climbing experience is not necessary, climbers need to be prepared mentally as well as physically for the adventure. Trekkers who have experience rock climbing, walking on icy paths and some techniques of rope knots will do well. These peaks are especially suitable for those who don’t have a long time and limited physical ability but still interested in climbing and experiencing mountain expedition. We will enter the Sagarmatha National Park which is also known for the home of many rare birds, animals, and local flora. During the trek, we will have wonderful views of the mountains which include Mt Everest, Mt Ama Dablam, Lhotse. Trekking is best from March to June and from September to December.

Day 01: Arrival Kathmandu

Day 02: Fly to Lukla then trek to Phakding (2,652m) 3-4 hours

Day 03: Trek to Namche Bazaar (3,440m) 5-6 hours

Day 04: Rest day in Namche Bazaar

Day 05: Trek to Tengboche (3,870m) 5- 6 hours

Day 06: Trek to Dingboche (4,360 m) 5 to 6 hours

Day 07: Trek to Chhukung (4,730m) 3-4 hours

Day 08:  Rest day in Chhukung

Day 09: Trek to Island Peak Base camp (5,200m) 3-4 hours

Day 10: Island Peak Summit (6,189m), back to base camp 10-12 hours

Day 11: Trek to Pangboche (3,985m) 5-6 hours

Day 12: Trek to Namche Bazaar 4-5 hours

Day 13: Trek to Lukla 6-7 hours

Detailed Itinerary

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu

When you land at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu there willbe  a representative from our company to meet you. You will directly drive to the hotel to check in. At night you will meet your guide, hear additional information about the trip, and have dinner.

Day 02: Fly to Lukla then Trek to Phakding (2,652m) 3-4 hours

After having breakfast in the hotel, we will drive towards the airport for a scenic flightto Lukla which is also known as the Gateway of the Everest Region. From Lukla, we will start our trekking on foot. We will walk towards Phakding where we will spend one night.

Day 03: Trek to Namche Bazaar (3,440m) 5-6 hours

The trail ascends through Himalayan pine and cedar forests. We will have wonderful views of the highest mountain in the world, Mt Everest. On the route, we will have our lunch and then move towards Namche Bazaar where we will spend one night.

Day 04: Rest day in Namche Bazaar

This day is for the rest day. Early in the morning after wake up, we will have our breakfast and then after we will explore all around the Namche Bazaar. We will explore villages and get an opportunity to spend some time in the monastery which may help provide the mental stamina for further trekking.

Day 05: Trek to Tengboche (3,870m) 5- 6 hours

Today on a trail we climb to an even higher elevation where the main attraction is amonastery situated at the highest altitude in the world. We will have a wonderful view of the mountain and beautiful landscape of this route and spend one night.

Day 06: Trek to Dingboche (4,360 m) 5 to 6 hours

Our trail descends and passes through a lush forest of birch. On the route, we will have an opportunity to see wonderful views of the mountain, and surrounding landscape. We will cross many suspension bridges before reaching Dingboche where we will spend one night.

Day 07: Trek to Chhukung (4,730m) 3-4 hours

The trail gently goes up from Dingboche on a wide valley without green trees or forests. The trail ahead is intersected by icy streams. We will get ourselves ready by double-checking our equipment for our summit day and spend one night in this wonderful land of Chhukung.

Day 08:  Rest day in Chhukung

This day is for the rest. Early in the morning after wake up, we will have our breakfast and then explore all around Chhukung. We will explore villages and get an opportunity to spend some time at another monastery.

Day 09: Trek to Island Peak Base camp (5,200m) 3-4 hours

The path from Chhukung is steep, climbing south then turning east to the main line of the valley. A crisscross route through the Ijma and Lhotse glacier moraines leads to a wide valley flanking the southwest side of Island Peak.

Day 10: Island Peak Summit (6,189m), back to base camp 10-12 hours

We will trek to Island Peak High Camp and then the path leads up beyond base camp for several hundred meters before striking off left up against the steep hillside. This is not so difficult, but there are several short rock steps to climb before we emerge on the right side of the gully. After reaching the summit of Island Peak, we will head back to base camp where we will spend one night.

Day 11: Trek to Pangboche (3,985m) 5-6 hours

This will be one of the most difficult yet rewarding days of the trek.  The ascent is demanding, but the climber gets the magnificent mountain views. We will walk on a fairly steep trail at a comfortable pace.

Day 12: Trek to Namche Bazaar 4-5 hours

This day’s trekking trail goes slightly uphill to Namche Bazaar. We will have an opportunity to explore the beautiful valley of the route. We will pass through the lush forest and have an opportunity to see wonderful views of the mountain.

Day 13: Trek to Lukla 6-7 hours

This is the last day of trekking in the Everest region where we will walk from Namche Bazaar to Lukla. The trail passes through pine, oak, and rhododendron forest. We will also pass through many suspension bridges before reaching Lukla where we will spend one night.

Day 14: Fly to Kathmandu

In the morning, if the hotel is able to make breakfast we will have our breakfast and then move towards the local airport of Lukla to fly towards the Kathmandu Valley. Upon reaching Kathmandu, we will check into the hotel,spend some time around the Thamel Bazaar, and spend one night in this wonderful valley.

Day 15: Final departure

We will drop you off at Tribhuvan International Airport with the hope that you have had a wonderful time in our small country. We will also be hoping that this will not the last chance to serve you.
