Everest Gokyo Lake trek

Everest Gokyo Lake trek is one of the finest trekking destinations in the Everest region where we will explore one of the largest lakes in this region it is located in the eastern part of the remote Himalayas of Nepal. The trek offers excellent and magnificent views of the mountain, beautiful landscapes, and as well as the largest glacier of Nepal. Another interesting highlight of this trek is beautiful ice lake which is well known as Gokyo Lake Trek. It has a traditional trekking route to Everest Base Camp which gives you scenic views of the highest peak. It is a festival of beautiful turquoise lakes, moonscapes-like glacier, and stunning mountain views. The explanation and pictures of the azure lakes from any fellow traveller is a motivation for anyone to be there in that isolated place. We will see the sight Gokyo valley has a collection of stone houses and meadows on the shore of a great lake. The scenery is simply breathtaking with the paradise of glistening peaks, stunning glacier around, ancient and ornate monasteries. This region is the most renowned of all the trekking routes all around the globe.

Everest Gokyo Lake trek is the very best lakes of fresh water with six other lakes among which Thonak is one in all the largest lakes. This is also the hub onto which each trail converges, so yaks and people complete for space in this amphitheatre style city. At the time of trekking in this route, we will be warming welcomed by the Sherpa people who are the local people in this route. We will have an opportunity to know about the Culture, traditions, and lifestyle of the Sherpa people from decades to decades. Most of the area of this route is not so well developed but the natural beauty of this land makes your journey more enjoyable and unforgettable and the warm welcome by the Sherpa people which makes more memorable. During the time of the trekking, we will have wonderful views of the mountain which includes Mt Everest, Mt Ama Dablam, Lhotse, and many other mountains of this route. We will have a chance to explore or to enter Sagarmatha national park which is the home of many rare birds, animals, flora, and fauna. On the way, we will have a great chance to see the largest monastery in the Khumbu region. For the trekking, the perfect time also needed and the perfect season for trekking February to April and September to December.

Detail Itinerary

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu

When you will land in the international airport in Kathmandu.  there will be one person from our company to pick you up. You will be taken directly to your hotel to check in. At night you will meet your guide and review your  trip and have dinner.      

Day 02: Fly to Lukla and heading to Phakding (2,651m) 3 – 4 hours

Having breakfast in the hotel, we will slowly drive towards the airport to a scenic fly towards Lukla which is also known as the gateway of the Everest region. From Lukla, we will start our trekking on foot. We will slowly walk towards Phakding where we will spend one night.

Day 04: Trekking to Namche Bazaar (3,438m) 5 – 6 hours

The trail follows ascending through Himalayan pine and cedar forests. We will have an opportunity to see the wonderful views of the mountain which is one of the highest mountains in the world Mt Everest. On the route, we will have our lunch and slowly move towards Namche Bazaar where we will spend one night.

Day 05: Rest day in Namche Bazaar

This day is for the rest day that’s why we don’t start our trekking. Early in the morning after wake up, we will have our breakfast then after we will explore all around the Namche Bazaar. At this day, we will explore villages and get an opportunity to spend some time in the monastery which feels better and mental makeup for further trekking or journey.

Day 06: Trekking to Phortse Thanga (3,680m) 5-6 hours

The trail climbs through the lush forest of rhododendron, and the magnificent views of the great Himalayas. Our trail descends to Dudh Koshi Khola after which is an uphill climb through beautiful landscapes and rhododendron forest before reaching Phortse Thanga where we will spend one night.

Day 07: Trekking to Machhermo (4,470m) 4-5 hours

We will depart from Phortse Thanga to reach Machhermo. The beautiful stream flowing down from the Kyajo Ri and Phari Lapche mountains runs through the middle of the village before draining into the Dudh Koshi. We will pass through forests, waterfalls, and suspension bridges before reaching Machhermo where we will spend one night.

Day 08: Trekking to Gokyo (4,800 m) 4-5 hours

While doing this day trek, we will have an opportunity to see the wonderful views of the mountain, beautiful villages. We will cross many suspension bridges before reaching Gokyo where we will spend one night in this wonderful land.

Day 09: Rest day in Gokyo Valley

This day is for the rest day that’s why we don’t start our trekking. Early in the morning after wake up, we will have our breakfast then after we will explore all around the Gokyo valley. Not only that, we will have an opportunity to climb up to the Gokyo Ri and also have an opportunity to see the wonderful views of the mountain views.

Day 10: Trekking to Thagnak (4750 m) 4 – 5 hours

The trekking trail climbs steeply towards Thagnak where we will pass through the lush forest of rhododendron. We will walk across a rocky terrain scattered where small and thorny bushes give way to scrub juniper as the altitude increases.

Day 11: Trekking to Cho La pass (5,367m) to Dzongla 7 – 8 hours

We will start the trekking early in the morning because we have to cross Chola pass today. We begin the day by climbing the Chola pass and also descending once more to Dzongla. And this day trek you will able to experience the best part of the hiking.

Day 12: Trekking to Lobuche (4940 m) 2 – 3 hours

The trail passes through the spectacular views of the mountain, the lush forest of rhododendron. The land becomes drier and vegetations spare as you travel to Lobuche where we will spend one night.

Day 13: Trekking to Gorak Shep (5,170 m) 6-7 hours

There is also a lot of meandering on rough terrains and this is the last settlement along the route. We can enjoy the wonderful views of the mountain, beautiful landscapes. We will cross many suspension bridges before reaching Gorak Shep where we will spend one night.

Day 14: Trekking to Kala Patthar (5,545m) to Pheriche (4,288m) 7-8 hours

In the early morning, we will start our trekking towards Kala Patthar. Today we will cross Kala Patthar. After crossing the Kala Patthar, we will back down to Pheriche. On the way, we will have a wonderful view of the mountain and beautiful landscape. It takes almost 7 to 8 hours to reach Pheriche where we will spend overnight.

Day 15: Trekking to Namche Bazaar 6 – 7 hours

This day trekking trail slightly goes uphill to Namche Bazaar. We will have an opportunity to explore the beautiful valley of the route. We will pass through the lush forest, beautiful valley, and get an opportunity to see the wonderful views of the mountain.

Day 16: Trekking to Lukla (2,860m) 6 – 7 hours

This is the last-day trekking in the Everest region where we will walk from Namche Bazaar to Lukla. The trail passes through pine, oak, and rhododendron forest. We will also pass through many suspension bridges before reaching Lukla where we will spend one night.

Day 17: Fly to Kathmandu

In the morning, if the hotel is able to make breakfast then we will have our breakfast and slowly move towards the local airport of Lukla to fly towards Kathmandu valley. Upon reach in Kathmandu valley, first of all, we will check out the hotel and spend some time around the Thamel Bazaar and spend one night in this wonderful valley.

Day 18: Final departure
