Everest Cho la Pass Trek

Everest Cho la Pass Trek is a combination of everything that the Everest region of Nepal can ever offer and which gives you the grand trekking of the famous Khumbu region. It is a combination of the Everest Base Camp and Gokyo Lake treks.  This particular trek gives you eyeful views of the mountain vistas and glaciers and follows the praised trekking direction through the Dudh Koshi. We will pass through the charming villages with wonderful cultural possessions while enjoying the unparalleled views of the mountains in the heart and background of the well-known Everest region. This trek offers us the opportunity to be in mesmerizing Gokyo Valley at the edge of serene Gokyo Lakes. The trip offers a chance to witness the land of the Sherpa and visit stately Buddhist monasteries. Your mind will likely never experience such a feeling of peace as the serenity felt in this wilderness in the mountains . Trekking on this route is one of the most popular activities among the people who visit Nepal for a holiday. On the way, we will experience the culture of Sherpa people, picturesque villages, great variety of cultures and traditions, colourful festivals and monasteries.

Everest Cho la Pass Trek is one of the most challenging trekking destinations in the Everest region. Trekking in this region is an amazing experience not only for its proximity to the world’s highest mountain but also for its friendly Sherpa people. We will have an opportunity to learn about the culture, tradition, and lifestyle of the Sherpa people who are the local inhabitants of this route. The scenery is simply breathtaking with the paradise of glistening peaks, stunning glaciers around, ancient and ornate monasteries. This region is the most renowned of all the trekking routes all around the globe.

The trek begins from Lukla Valley after a 30-minute mountain flight from the Kathmandu Valley.  We will have an opportunity to see the wonderful mountain views of Mt Everest, Mt Lhotse, Mt Makalu, Mt Cho Oyu and many other mountains of this wonderful route.  Most of the area of this route is not so well developed, but the natural beauty of this land makes your journey more enjoyable and the warm welcome by the Sherpa people which makes it more memorable. The best season for trekking is from February to April and from September to December.

Day 01: Arrive in Kathmandu

Day 02: Fly to Lukla and heading to Phakding (2652m) 3 hrs

Day 03: Trek to Namche Bazaar (3440m) 5-6 hours

Day 04: Rest day in Namche Bazaar

Day 05: Trek to Tengboche (3867m) 5 hours

Day 06: Trek to Dingboche (4360m) 5-6 hours

Day 07: Rest day in Dingboche

Day 08: Trek to Lobuche (4940m) 5 hours

Day 09: Trek to Gorakshep (5170m) 7-8 hrs

Day 10: Trek Kala Patthar (5545m) and back to Lobuche (4940m) 5-6 hours

Day 11: Trek to Dzongla (4830m) 2-3 hours

Day 12: Cross Chola Pass to Thangnak 7-8 hours

Day 13: Trek to Gokyo Lake 4 hours

Day 14: Trek down to Dole (4090m) 5-6 hours

Detailed Itinerary

Day 01: Arrive in Kathmandu 

When you land at Tribhuvan Iinternational Airport in Kathmandu there will be a representative from our company to pick you up. You will be taken directly to your hotel to check in. At night you will meet your guide and review your  trip and have dinner.      

Day 02: Fly to Lukla and heading to Phakding (2652m) 3 hrs 

After having breakfast in the hotel, we will slowly drive towards the airportfor a scenic flight towards Lukla which is also known as the Gateway of the Everest region. From Lukla, we will start our trekking on foot. We will slowly walk towards Phakding where we will spend one night.

Day 03: Trek to Namche Bazaar (3440m) 5-6 hours

The trail follows ascending through Himalayan pine and cedar forests. We will have an opportunity to see the wonderful views of the highet mountain in the world Mt Everest. On the route, we will have our lunch and slowly move towards Namche Bazaar where we will spend one night.

Day 04: Rest day in Namche Bazaar

This day is for the rest day. Early in the morning after wake up, we will have our breakfast then after we will explore all around the Namche Bazaar. There will be an opportunity to spend some time in the monastery which may instill an improved mental makeup for further trekking.

Day 05: Trek to Tengboche (3867m) 5 hours

Today we will travel on a trail to an even higher elevation where the main attraction is a monastery situated at the highest altitude in the world. We will have a wonderful view of the mountain and beautiful landscape of this route and spend one night.

Day 06: Trek to Dingboche (4360m) 5-6 hours

Our trail descends and passes through the lush forest of birch. On the route, we will have an opportunity to see the wonderful views of the mountain, and beautiful landscape. We will cross many suspension bridges before reaching Dingboche where we will spend one night.

Day 07: Rest day in Dingboche

This day is for the rest day. Early in the morning after wake up, we will have our breakfast and then after we will explore all around the Dingboche.

Day 08: Trek to Lobuche (4940m) 5 hours

The trail passes through the spectacular views of the mountain and the lush forest of rhododendron. The land becomes drier and vegetation sparse as you travel to Lobuche where we will spend one night.

Day 09: Trek to Gorakshep (5170m) 7-8 hrs

There is a lot of meandering on rough terrain and this is the last settlement along the route. We can enjoy the wonderful views of the mountain and beautiful landscapes. We will cross many suspension bridges before reaching Gorak Shep where we will spend one night.

Day 10: Trek to Kala Patthar (5545m) and back to Lobuche (4940m) 5-6 hours

In the early morning, we will start our trekking towards Kala Patthar. After crossing the Kala Patthar, we will head back down to Lobuche. On the way, we will have a wonderful view of the mountain and beautiful landscape. It takes almost 5 to 6 hours to reach Lobuche where we will spend overnight.

Day 11: Trek to Dzongla (4830m) 2-3 hours

The vegetation is more sparse, allowing magical views of the mountain and beautiful landscapes. We will have our lunch on the way then after taking some rest we will slowly move towards Dzongla where we will spend one night in this beautiful land.

Day 12: Cross Chola Pass to Thangnak 7-8 hours

We will start the trekking early in the morning because we have to cross Cholo pass today. We begin the day by climbing the Chola pass and also descending once more to Thangnak. On this day[s trek you will able to experience the best part of the hiking.

Day 13: Trek to Gokyo Lake 4 hours

While doing this day’s trek, we will have an opportunity to see the wonderful views of the mountain and beautiful villages. We will cross many suspension bridges before reaching Gokyo Lake where we will spend one night.

Day 14: Trek down to Dole (4090m) 5-6 hours

This will be one of the most difficult yet rewarding days of the trek.  The ascent is demanding, but the climber gets magnificent mountain views. We will walk on a fairly steep trail at a comfortable pace. We will have our lunch on the way then after we will slowly move towards Dole where we will spend one night.

Day 15: Trek to Namche Bazaar (3440m) 6-7 hours

This day’s trekking trail goes slightly uphill to Namche Bazaar. We will have an opportunity to explore the beautiful valley of the route. We will pass through the lush forest, beautiful valley, and get an opportunity to see wonderful views of the mountain.

Day 16: Trek to Lukla (2850m) 7 hours

This is the last day of trekking in the Everest region where we will walk from Namche Bazaar to Lukla. The trail passes through pine, oak, and rhododendron forest. We will also pass through many suspension bridges before reaching Lukla where we will spend one night.

Day 17: Flight to Kathmandu

In the morning, if the hotel is able to make breakfast then we will have our breakfast and move toward the local airport of Lukla to fly to the Kathmandu Valley. Upon reaching Kathmandu,  we will check in at the hotel, spend some time around the Thamel Bazaar, and spend one night in this wonderful valley.

Day 18: Final departure

We will drop you off at Tribhuvan International Airport with the hope that you have had a wonderful stay in our small country. We will also be hoping that this will not be the last chance to serve you.
